µTorrent Beta is the mobile version of the acclaimed desktop torrent client of the same name.

Many files are shared via torrent, and until now, Android devices have had no reliable way of seeding and leeching torrents. There's no question that this client is feature-filled and easy to use on desktops, but do these features translate well to mobile devices? It has the basic required functionality, but not much else. This may be good for non-power users, but the lack of options may throw users under the bus who require more specialized functionality.

The app does not have a built-in WiFi vs 3G/4G control, which is a big detractor. Obviously, downloading torrents takes up a huge amount of bandwidth. Most mobile plans have a limited data transfer count. If you accidentally leave this app on, it can use up all of your data and charge you overages very quickly. Even if your downloads have finished, the client will still try to seed it for future downloaders. In short, if you're going to use this, ensure that you have good controls in place for downloading over metered vs unmetered connections.

The user interface is simple enough for anyone to use. There are very limited anonymity options. While there is no built-in VPN support, there is built-in proxy support. This is sub-standard security, and users who want to be anonymous will need to look into alternative options.
